Deputy to the Garrison Commander, Tim Andersen

 

  Mr. Andersen holds a BS from the University of Idaho in 1979 as Naval ROTC Scholarship Participant. JPME 1 from the Naval War College Distance Learning Program 2007, AJPME from Joint Forces Staff College 2009, and Senior Executive Fellows Program, Harvard Kennedy School, May 2017. Graduated from Naval Flight School in January 1981 where he earned his Naval Aviators Wings.

 

  During his 30 years of Commissioned Service, he served in Command, Staff, Shipboard, and Squadron positions in the United States, Germany, Italy, Western Pacific, Mediterranean, and Indian Ocean deployments. Tours of Duty included: Naval Aviation Schools Command, Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron TEN (HS-10) for training as a Fleet Replacement Pilot in the SH-3H in February of 1982 and commenced his fleet tour with HS-6. He deployed aboard USS ENTERPRISE CVN-65 and completed two deployments to the Western Pacific. Following his initial Sea tour, he reported to HS-10 in San Diego, California as a Fleet Replacement Pilot Instructor in March, 1985. He served as ASW Instructor and Assistant Operations Officer. Enroute to his next Sea Tour he attended HC-16 for UH-1N training prior to reporting to USS TARAWA LHA-1 as the Assistant Air Officer and later was assigned the USS DULUTH LPD-6 in the cleanup of Prince William Sound in Alaska following the grounding of the former EXXON VALDEZ. Left active duty in January of 1990 and joined the Navy Reserve where he affiliated with HS-85 based in NAS Alameda and served as ASW training officer and Training Department Head. HS-85 moved to NAS North Island and he was instrumental in the transformation to HC-85 with their new mission supporting the Southern California Offshore Range (SCORE) at San Clemente Island. He served as NATOPS Officer as well as Maintenance and Operations Officer. In April of 1999 he became the Executive Officer of HC-85 and assumed Command in April 2000. Following his Change of Command in August 2001 he became the Chief of Staff for C3F JFACC 0194 in October 2001 and was acting Commanding Officer during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In October of 2003 he assumed Command of NR CSG 7 supporting Carrier Strike Group SEVEN aboard the USS John C Stennis (CVN-74) and now the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76). In January 2005 he served as Deputy JFACC for Operation Unified Assistance under MGEN Deptula at Hickam AFB. He completed his CO tour of the CNE-C6F Maritime Partnership Program Strategy and Support HQ Det. 130 out of Naples Italy in November 2007. He served as the CNE-C6F Liaison Officer to AFRICOM in Stuttgart, Germany from Oct 20017 to March 2009. He completed 30 years of Commissioned service in June 2009.

 

  In February of 2010, he became Department of the Army Civilian assigned to United States Africa Command serving as the Deputy Chief of Shared Services and then Chief of Shared Services under the AFRICOM Chief of Staff. These duties included the supervision of the Office of Security Management, Facilities Management, Secretariat of the Joint Staff, Distinguished Visitors Support Element, Visual Information Services, FOIA/Privacy Act, Conference Planning, Language and Translation Services, Passport and VISA Control, and Comptroller for all of the 11 Offices under the Chief of Staff.

 

  In August of 2017, he transitioned to become the USAG White Sands Missile Range, Deputy Garrison Commander.

 

  Legion of Merit (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Action Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal (2nd Award.)

 

  Tim Andersen is married to the former Yolanda Saunders of Pullman Washington.
