Photo: Mountains

So, you’ve been notified that you are being reassigned to White Sands Missile Range! Congratulations and a big Southwestern Welcome!

White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) is located at the base of the beautiful Organ Mountains. As you can see by the photos, it does snow at WSMR but rarely do we receive the amount of snow shown in the photo to the right. Usually a dusting of the mountains as illustrated above is all we see in an average winter season.

Please be aware that WSMR is home to the Oryx (African Antelope)(photo and video at right). These animals run wild and free on the range. They are known to cross the highway or stop, and stand in the center. Under no circumstances are you to exit your vehicle. Remain inside at all times. Oryx have a tendency to charge vehicles at the slightest provocation.
