Brig. Gen. David Trybula, takes the oath with Maj. Gen. Joel Tyler via video teleconference. Normally conducted face to face, this promotion ceremony, like many in current times, was done remotely, with only Trybula's family and a minimum staff present in keeping with social distancing guidance.

Col. David C. Trybula was officially pinned with the flag officer rank of Brigadier General. Trybula is Commander of White Sands Missile Range. The ceremony was conducted by Maj. Gen. Joel Tyler, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command via video teleconference. Prior to taking command at White Sands, Trybula served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Army Futures Command Headquarters in Austin, Texas.
"What a humbling experience," Trybula said following the ceremony. "This is truly the result of investments by Soldiers, Civilians, and Family members throughout my career. My deepest gratitude goes out to each and every person that has been a part of my development - today is your day as well! I am thrilled at the opportunity to continue to contribute and serve our Nation."
Upon graduation from the U.S. Military Academy in 1989, Trybula was commissioned as an Armor officer and served his company grade time in Armor and Cavalry units before receiving his functional designation as an Operations Research Systems Analyst. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Science degree and Doctorate of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
Over the last 10 years, he served in the following key assignments: Strategic Initiatives Group Chief for the Under Secretary of the Army, Arlington, VA; Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Resources, Facilities, and Strategy, and Director, Prospective Clinical Analytics, U.S. Army Medical Command, Falls Church, VA; Director, Afghan Assessment Group, Headquarters, International Security Assistance Force, Kabul, Afghanistan; Senior Strategist and the Executive Director, Army Science Board, Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of the Army, Arlington, VA; Chief of Staff, Army National Cemeteries Program, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
