William A. Wofford

Command Sergeant Major William A. Wofford hails from Coffeyville, Kansas. A career artilleryman, he joined the Army in February 1990 as a Cannon Crewmember and has served at every leadership level from Cannon Crewmember to Installation Command Sergeant Major.


CSM Wofford’s subsequent positions and duty assignments include: Ammo Handler and Gunner, C Btry 3/41 FA, Ft Stewart, GA; Gunner, B Btry 8/8 FA, CP Stanley Korea; Gunner/Section Chief, C Btry 3/7 FA, Schofield Barracks, HI; Gunnery Sergeant/Platoon Sergeant, 3/82 FA, Ft Hood, TX; Drill Sergeant, 2-28 INF, Ft Jackson, SC; Senior Drill Sergeant Leader, USADSS, Ft Jackson, SC; First Sergeant, 2/3 FA, Giessen GE; SMSI, St Bonaventura University, Olean, New York; Command Sergeant Major, 4-27/1-84 FA Baumholder, GE, Command Sergeant Major, 2-29/ FA, 1AD Ft Bliss TX, Garrison Command Sergeant Major, WSMR, NM.


CSM Wofford's deployments include Desert Shield, Desert Storm. He has deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom twice, and Operation Enduring Freedom. 


His awards and decorations include the, the Legion of Merit, 3 Bronze Stars, 5 Meritorious Service Medals, 5 Army Commendation Medals, and 2 Army Achievement Medals. He has earned the Air Assault badge, Drill Sergeant Identification badge, and the Combat Action Badge. He has attended every level of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System to include the Executive Leaders course and Senior Leaders Development course. He is also a graduate of the Drill Sergeant Leaders Certification course and the Total Army Instructor Training Course.


CSM Wofford possesses a Masters of Arts degree in Resource Management. He is a member of the Sergeants Audie Murphy Club. He is married and has four children.
